Our Beliefs
The Scriptures
We believe in the Scriptures of the OT and NT as verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writing, are God’s completed and sufficient revelation for the total well-being of mankind. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
(Matt. 5:18; Jn. 17:17; I Cor. 2:7-14; II Tim. 3:16-17; II Pet. 1:20-21)
God
We believe the only true God who exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and that these three are one in being, having precisely the same nature, attributes and perfections, and worthy of precisely the same worship, confidence, and obedience. He created all things and upholds all things by the Word of His power. He is a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He and is the Judge of the world.
(Deut. 32:4; Ps. 9:8; Mk. 12:29; Jn. 1:1-4; 17:3; Heb. 1:3; Rev. 4:11;)
God the Father
We believe that God the Father, the first person of the Trinity, orders and disposes all thing
according to His own purpose and will. As the only absolute and omnipotent Ruler in the
universe, He is sovereign in creation, providence and redemption. He decreed for His glory all things that come to pass and has graciously choses from eternity past those whom He would have as His own.
(Ps. 103:19; Rom. 11:36; I Cor. 8:6; Eph. 1:4-6, 11)
God the Son
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, is the manifestation of God incarnate, being truly God and truly man he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfectly sinless life, was crucified, died, rose from the grave and is seated at the right hand of the Father until he returns to earth to consummate His Kingdom.
(Jn. 1:1, 14, 18; Col. 2:9; I Tim 2:5)
God the Spirit
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ during this age. He convicts of sin, regenerates the sinner upon believing upon Christ, baptizing the believer into one body. He indwells, guides, instructs, fills, comforts, and empowers the believer for godly living and service through individually bestowed spiritual gifts.
(Jn. 16:8; Titus 3:5; Eph. 1:22; Rom. 8:9-17; 12:4-8; Gal. 5:25)
Mankind
We believe that God directly created mankind – Male and female – in his own image, free from iniquity to glorify himself and enjoy his fellowship, but by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless state in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners – by choice and nature. Alienated from God without defense or excuse and objects of God’s righteous wrath, without exception every man is totally depraved and in desperate need of a Savior. (Gen. 1:26-27; 3:1-6; Ps. 16:11; Rom. 1:18, 32; 3:10-19)
Salvation
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ lived a perfect life in obedience to the Father and died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice and salvation is found in none other than Jesus Christ. Jesus’ death on the cross was the sole and complete payment for sins, fully satisfying God’s righteous wrath, for all who repents of their sins and confesses Him as sovereign Lord. At salvation, the sinner is declared righteous, made a new creation, adopted ingo God’s family and sealed with the Holy Spirit eternally secure as children of God.
(Jn. 14:6; Acts 4:12; Rom. 8:29-30, 37-39; 10:9; I Cor. 15:3-4; 2 Cor. 5:21; Eph. 1:3-14; 2:8-9)
The Church
We believe that upon place one’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, all believers become a part of His body, the church. There is one church universal, composed of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The Scriptures command believers to gather together locally in order to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, observance of the ordinances (baptism and communion), fellowship, service, and outreach to the world.
(Mt. 28:18-20; Acts 2:42-46; I Cor. 12:12-13; 14:26; Eph. 1:22-23; Col. 1:18; Heb. 10:24-25)
Baptism and Communion
We believe that Christian baptism is a public declaration of and identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection symbolized by immersion in water. The Lord’s Supper is the commemoration of Christ’s death until He comes again and should be preceded by a careful self-examination.
(Acts 2:41; 8:26-40; Rom. 6:3-6; I Cor. 11:17-34)
Missions
We believe it is the aim, duty, and privilege of every believer and local church fellowship to
glorify God by responding as active participants in the Great Commission call of Jesus Christ to go and make disciples of all nations. We believe the primary focus and priority of this call is centered on efforts that establish, strengthen, and reproduce biblically based churches, which will then plant churches that plant churches for future generations and God’s glory.
(Mt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Titus 1:5)
Things to Come
We believe and expectantly await the personal, imminent, glorious, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The blessed hope of his return has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved will be raised to eternal joy in the manifested presence of God. The lost will be raised to eternal torment in hell in conscious separation from God.
(Mt. 25:31-46; Jn. 5:28-29; Rom. 8:10-11; I Cor. 15:51-53; I Thess. 4:13-5:11; Titus 2:13; Rev. 20:15)
Lead Pastor
Matthew Crane
I am a Napa native, born and raised, and I love this city. As a young man I experienced God's saving grace and love in His Word through the people of Napa and desire others to come to know Jesus in the same way.
I'm amazed that the God of the universe personally called me, saved me from my sins, and will one day safely bring me home. I have the greatest privilege to teach God's Word to His people and watch His Spirit work in our lives and community with His transformational love.
“…beholding the glory of the Lord, we are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.”
- 2 Cor. 3:18
